Effective date: October 5, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern every purchase from and use of this website, khcprecision.com (the “Site”), operated by KHC Precision LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By placing an order, completing checkout, registering an account on the Site, or using any product purchased from the Site or provided to you by us — including any evaluation, test, prototype, or loaner unit provided free of charge — you (“you,” the “buyer,” or the “user”) agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Refund & Return Policy, which is part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not place an order.

The Short Version

The full Terms below control, but here is the plain-English summary:

  • Our sensors and parts are operator aids, not safety devices. They can fail, misread, or be installed incorrectly. You must never rely on them in place of your own attention and safe reloading practice.

  • Reloading ammunition is inherently dangerous. You are solely responsible for your press, your components, your load data, and everything you produce with them.

  • You must verify correct installation and test thoroughly with dummy or inert cases before any live loading.

  • DIY parts are sold as components only. If you build or install it yourself, you are the builder and responsible for the result.

  • Optics and mounts are sighting aids, not safety devices. We sell them new as an authorized dealer, with the manufacturer's warranty passed through to you. Mount and torque to the manufacturer's specs, verify zero before live use, and re-verify after any impact or remount. After our 30-day arrival window, warranty claims go to the manufacturer.

  • Everything is sold as-is, without warranty — except items that arrive defective, damaged, or incorrect, which we replace or refund under our Refund & Return Policy — and our total liability is capped at what you paid us.

  • We offer refunds under our Refund & Return Policy. Contact us first — we will make it right.

1. What We Sell

The Site sells electronic sensing products and related components for use with progressive reloading presses, and shooting sports optics, including: (a) fully assembled sensors (the “Sensor”); (b) upgrade modules and accessories; (c) individual do-it-yourself parts and components such as fiber-optic heads, housings, power supplies, and mounting hardware (“DIY Parts”); and (d) shooting sports optics and optic mounting hardware — such as red-dot sights, riflescopes, mounts, plates, and rings — sold new as an authorized dealer of the manufacturer (“Optics”) (collectively, the “Products”).

Our Products are electronic sensors, enclosures, and electrical components, and optical sighting devices and their mounting hardware. They are not firearms, ammunition, primers, propellants, explosives, or serialized or otherwise regulated firearm parts, and no license is required to purchase them. We do not sell firearms, reloading components, or completed ammunition of any kind.

Product descriptions, compatibility notes, and photos are provided for general reference. It is your responsibility to confirm that a Product is compatible with your specific press, machine, wiring, and configuration — or, for Optics, with your specific firearm, slide cut or rail, optic footprint, and mounting system — before purchase and before use.

The Products are aftermarket accessories. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any press, machine, or firearm manufacturer. For Optics, we act only as an authorized reseller of the optics brands we carry; those brand names are trademarks of their respective manufacturers, and our authorization to sell them does not make us the manufacturer's agent. Installing aftermarket equipment on your press may affect or void your press manufacturer's warranty, and modifying a firearm or slide to accept an optic may affect or void your firearm manufacturer's warranty — check the relevant manufacturer's warranty terms before installing any Product.

All prices on the Site are stated in United States dollars (USD).

2. Safety Warning — Read Before Use

RELOADING AMMUNITION AND MODIFYING AUTOMATED LOADING EQUIPMENT ARE INHERENTLY DANGEROUS ACTIVITIES that can result in property damage, serious personal injury, or death. Hazards include, without limitation: primer detonation, powder ignition, squib loads, double charges, high-primer or inverted-primer conditions, equipment damage, and ammunition that is unsafe to fire.

THE SENSOR IS AN OPERATOR AID ONLY. IT IS NOT A SAFETY DEVICE, AND IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR OPERATOR ATTENTION, SAFE RELOADING PRACTICE, OR THE SAFETY SYSTEMS AND INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY YOUR PRESS MANUFACTURER. Like any electronic device, the Products can fail, misread, lose power, drift out of calibration, or be installed or configured incorrectly. You must operate your press at all times as if the Sensor were not installed.

Before any live loading, you must:

  • Read and follow all documentation for the Product and for your press, and all instructions published by your press, component, and powder manufacturers.

  • Verify correct mechanical installation, wiring, polarity, voltage, and signal integration with your specific machine.

  • Test thoroughly with dummy, empty, or inert cases and confirm correct detection behavior across repeated cycles before introducing live primers or powder.

  • Re-verify operation after any change to your press, tooling, caliber conversion, sensor position, or settings, and periodically during normal use.

  • Visually inspect every loaded round. Never fire ammunition you suspect is defective.

  • Avoid staring into any visible light beam emitted by the sensor head during setup.

AN OPTIC IS A SIGHTING AID ONLY. IT IS NOT A SAFETY DEVICE, AND IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR SAFE FIREARM HANDLING, THE FUNDAMENTAL RULES OF FIREARM SAFETY, OR THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY YOUR FIREARM AND OPTIC MANUFACTURERS. Firearms are inherently dangerous and can cause serious personal injury or death. Like any device, an Optic can lose zero, lose power, fog, break, or be mounted incorrectly. Before any live use of an Optic, you must:

  • Mount the Optic and its mounting hardware to the manufacturer's specifications, including the specified fasteners, plate or adapter, thread locker, and torque values, using a calibrated torque driver.

  • Confirm the footprint, plate, or mount is correct for your specific firearm, slide cut, or rail.

  • Verify zero with live fire in a safe, controlled setting before relying on the Optic for any purpose, and re-verify zero after any impact, drop, remount, or change to the mounting system.

  • Check fastener torque and zero periodically during normal use, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for batteries, charging, and care.

  • For any laser-emitting model, use it only in accordance with the manufacturer's laser safety guidance: never point a laser at a person, animal, aircraft, or vehicle, and never look into the emitter.

If a Product ever behaves unexpectedly, stop using it immediately and contact us before continuing.

3. Assumption of Risk

BY PURCHASING OR USING ANY PRODUCT, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT: (a) you understand the hazards described in Section 2; (b) you are solely responsible for the safe installation, configuration, testing, operation, and maintenance of the Products and of any press, machine, or firearm they are attached to; (c) you are solely responsible for your reloading process, including component selection, load data, charge weights, primer seating, and inspection of finished ammunition; (d) for Optics, loss of zero, mount or fastener failure, battery failure, and optic malfunction are foreseeable risks that you knowingly accept, and you are solely responsible for verifying zero and mounting integrity before and during use; and (e) YOU KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISK of property damage (including damage to your press, machine, tooling, firearms, or other property), personal injury, or death arising from or related to the use, misuse, installation, failure, or performance of any Product.

A missed detection, false reading, or malfunction of any Product is a foreseeable possibility that you accept by choosing to use an operator aid; likewise, a loss of zero, mount failure, or malfunction of any Optic is a foreseeable possibility that you accept by choosing to use a sighting aid. Responsibility for every round you produce, and for every shot you fire, rests with you alone.

Evaluation, test, prototype, and loaner units. Everything in these Terms applies equally to any Product we provide to you free of charge or at a reduced price — including evaluation, test, prototype, and loaner units and any parts supplied with them — whether or not you placed an order for it. Prototype and evaluation units may be unfinished, uncalibrated, or unproven, and may fail in ways a finished Product would not; you accept that added risk by choosing to use them. Sections 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 apply in full to such units, and for the purposes of Section 6 the amount you paid us for a unit provided free of charge is zero.

Because we have no control over your press or machine, your firearm, your choice of components, your load data, or the manner in which any Product is installed, mounted, wired, configured, or used, we assume no liability, expressed or implied, for any ammunition produced, shot fired, or results obtained while a Product is in use.

Any alteration, modification, or disassembly of any Product, and any removal or bypassing of any safety device or interlock on your press or machine, is done entirely at your own risk, transfers all resulting risk to you, and voids any return eligibility and any remedy we would otherwise offer.

4. DIY Parts and Self-Assembly

DIY Parts are sold as individual components only. When you purchase DIY Parts, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are the assembler and integrator. You are solely responsible for the design, assembly, wiring, mounting, insulation, testing, and safe operation of anything you build or modify using DIY Parts.

  • DIY Parts are not sold as a tested assembly, and we make no representation that any combination of parts you choose will function together, function with your machine, or function safely.

  • Published open-source documentation, drawings, and build guides are provided for reference, as-is, without warranty, and may contain errors. Following them does not transfer any responsibility to us.

  • Working with electrical components carries its own hazards, including short circuits, overheating, and fire. You are responsible for safe electrical practice, correct voltages, and appropriate isolation from your machine's controls.

  • Everything in Sections 2 and 3 applies fully to anything you build with DIY Parts.

5. No Warranty — Products Sold As-Is

EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED IN OUR REFUND & RETURN POLICY (WHICH COVERS ITEMS THAT ARRIVE DEFECTIVE, DAMAGED, OR INCORRECT), AND EXCEPT FOR ANY MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY THAT ACCOMPANIES AN OPTIC AS DESCRIBED BELOW, ALL PRODUCTS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

We do not warrant that any Product will be uninterrupted, error-free, or will detect every unsafe condition. No oral or written information or advice given by us creates any warranty.

Optics — manufacturer warranty pass-through. Optics are sold new with the manufacturer's own warranty, which passes through to you as the original purchaser on the manufacturer's terms. KHC Precision LLC adds no warranty of its own to any Optic. During the 30-day arrival-inspection period, an Optic that arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect is handled by us under our Refund & Return Policy; after that period, all warranty claims for an Optic go directly to the manufacturer under its warranty, and we will provide proof of purchase and reasonable assistance in making the claim.

Your sole and exclusive remedy against us for any Product that arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect is the replacement or refund remedy described in our Refund & Return Policy; for Optics after the arrival-inspection period, your remedy is the manufacturer's warranty. TO THE EXTENT ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY CANNOT BE DISCLAIMED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LONGER OF (i) THE 30-DAY ARRIVAL-INSPECTION PERIOD DESCRIBED IN OUR REFUND & RETURN POLICY OR (ii) THE MINIMUM DURATION REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW, AND IN REMEDY TO REPLACEMENT OR REFUND AS PROVIDED IN OUR REFUND & RETURN POLICY.

SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS SECTION GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO ANY PRODUCT OR THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US FOR THE PRODUCT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM; AND (b) IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR COST OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PRESS, MACHINE, TOOLING, DIES, FIREARMS, COMPONENTS, AMMUNITION, OR OTHER PROPERTY, OR ANY PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE USE, MISUSE, INSTALLATION, FAILURE, OR PERFORMANCE OF ANY PRODUCT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory asserted (contract, warranty, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KHC Precision LLC, its owner Shane Cotta, and khcprecision.com from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of any Product; (b) your installation, assembly, wiring, modification, or integration of any Product; (c) your reloading or shooting activities, any ammunition you produce, or any firearm on which a Product is mounted; (d) your violation of these Terms; (e) your violation of any law or regulation; or (f) any claim brought by a third party (including anyone who uses your equipment or ammunition) arising from any of the foregoing.

8. Eligibility and Legal Compliance

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract to purchase from the Site.

  • You are solely responsible for complying with all federal, state, and local laws that apply to your purchase, possession, and use of the Products and to your reloading and shooting activities.

  • Products are intended for lawful sporting, hobbyist, competitive, and commercial use only.

  • By placing an order you represent that every item you order is legal for you to possess at the delivery address, and that you are the ultimate end-user of the equipment or are purchasing it for delivery to the ultimate end-user.

  • You may not purchase Products for export in violation of U.S. export laws, and you may not resell Products in a manner that misrepresents their origin, capability, or safety function.

  • Export controls. Certain Optics and related items are subject to U.S. export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). You may not export, re-export, or transfer any Product outside the United States, or to any non-U.S. person, without the required U.S. government authorization. This is one reason we ship to U.S. addresses only. By ordering you represent that you are in the United States and will not export or re-export any Product.

9. Orders, Pricing, and Payment

  • All payments are processed securely by Stripe or another payment processor we designate. We never see or store your full card details. Your payment is also subject to the processor's own terms and privacy policy.

  • All prices are in U.S. dollars. Applicable taxes and shipping charges, if any, are shown at checkout before you pay.

  • We list only inventory we have on hand and ready to ship. If an item sells out before your order is processed, we will notify you and issue a prompt full refund.

  • Your order is an offer to purchase. We may accept or decline any order, and we may cancel an order (with a prompt full refund) in cases such as pricing or listing errors, suspected fraud, or inability to ship to your address.

  • You agree to provide accurate, current billing and shipping information.

10. Shipping and Delivery

  • We ship to addresses within the United States only; we do not currently ship internationally. Any order placed with a shipping address outside the U.S. will be cancelled and refunded in full.

  • In-stock orders normally ship within 2–4 business days via a tracked carrier service to the shipping address you provide at checkout.

  • Tracking information is provided when your order ships. Delivery is deemed complete upon the carrier's delivery confirmation to the address provided at checkout. Please inspect your package promptly on arrival.

  • Orders over $300 ship signature-required. A signature is required at delivery for any order with a total over $300, so please ship to an address where someone can sign.

  • If your order arrives damaged, is incorrect, or is defective, contact us at shane@khcprecision.com within 30 days of the delivery date. If your order does not arrive, contact us within 14 days of the carrier's expected delivery date. See our Refund & Return Policy for details.

  • We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, weather, or events outside our control, or for packages delivered to an incorrect address you provided.

Local Pickup and In-Person Sales

  • We sell in person at shooting club events and matches, and we offer local pickup by arrangement for orders placed on the Site. Choose local pickup at checkout where offered, or contact us to arrange it.

  • At handover you inspect the item and confirm the serial number (where present) against your receipt. Accepting the item at handover confirms it was received complete and undamaged.

  • In-person sales and local pickups are final on acceptance, except for defects covered by our Refund & Return Policy, which applies on the same terms as a shipped order with its time periods running from the handover date.

  • Pickup orders not collected within 14 days of our ready-for-pickup notice may be cancelled and refunded in full.

11. Returns and Refunds

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase, and we do offer refunds. Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund & Return Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. In short: contact us first, return the Product in the condition you received it (for Optics, unmounted and in original packaging) with all parts and your invoice number, and we will issue your refund within 2–5 business days of receiving and inspecting the return.

12. Billing Questions and Chargebacks

If you believe there is any error with a charge, or any problem with your order, please contact us at shane@khcprecision.com before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute. We respond promptly and will resolve legitimate problems with a replacement or refund under our Refund & Return Policy — it is almost always faster than a dispute. We retain records of orders, the policies presented at and in effect for each order, correspondence, and delivery confirmation, and we contest chargebacks that circumvent this policy.

13. Intellectual Property and Open-Source Design

The underlying open-source sensor design is published separately under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license for personal, non-commercial use. Your purchase of a physical Product transfers ownership of that physical item only; it does not grant you any license to manufacture, produce kits from, or commercially resell the design. All Site content, product names, and documentation are our property or used with permission. Optics brand names and logos are trademarks of their respective manufacturers and are used only to identify genuine products we are authorized to sell.

14. General Terms

  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

  • Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on the Site at the time of your order applies to that order.

  • Severability. If any provision of these Terms — including, without limitation, the warranty disclaimers and limitations of liability in Sections 5 and 6 — is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be deemed replaced by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original, and the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Refund & Return Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding your purchase or receipt of Products and supersede any prior understandings.

  • Survival. Sections 2 through 8, Section 13, and this Section 14 survive delivery of the Products and any termination of these Terms.
